Known as “The Heart of Washington Wine Country”, the Tri-Cities area boasts more than 160 wineries within a one-hour drive, where visitors can sample award-winning wines and enjoy spectacular landscapes. Kennewick, the largest city in the Tri-Cities region, is recognized as one of Washington’s most progressive cities. Bordered by the mighty Columbia River to the north, Kennewick is home to the beautiful 400-acre Columbia Park, which includes the Playground of Dreams, an Aquatic Playground, an 18-hole golf course and an Audubon natural area.

Located on the famous Lewis & Clark trail, and situated along the Columbia River, Kennewick is an area rich in Washington state history.  The area boasts, among other interests, ancient Indian petroglyphs and artifacts. It is known world-wide for “Kennewick man” a prehistoric skeleton discovered on the banks of the river.  Owing to its proximity to the Columbia river, transportation has played a key role in the area’s development, and the history of rail, water and auto travel is displayed in local museums.  As of 2020, the historical downtown area has come back to life with newly restored buildings housing a diverse mix of businesses – boutiques, art galleries, local breweries and upscale dining.
